Albuquerque United U11 ('98) Girls team participated in the 2008 Whole Enchilada tournament in Las Cruces, New Mexico during the weekend of October 11 and 12. The team played against stiff competition all weekend with positive individual and team results. Our first match on Saturday morning at 8:00 am against the El Paseo Jaguars for a 3 to null result in favor of United. United was confronted with a short turn around time vs. Rio Vista Coyotes Red in their first match of the day. United played with speed and determination, but the result was in favor of our opponent 4 to 2. With a one win and one lost bracket record, United came out of the bracket second. Sunday morning at 8:00 am United found itself against the first place team from the B bracket, the El Paseo 98 Red team. The United players knew that a win would put them into the Championship match later that morning. United demonstrated strong individual performances combined with a focused team effort which the United girls realized a 2 to 0 result in their favor. This success placed United in the Championship match. In the Championship match United had the rematch from Saturday versus the Coyote Reds. The pace was fast and furious. United found the goal first, but the opponent would not yield. The Coyote Red side equaled the score within minutes. And so the first half concluded in a draw. The second half was played in equal level of play as in the first. With six minutes remaining in regulation play United scored the go ahead goal.With minutes left to play the Coyote Reds gave their strongest effort in an attempt to equal the score.  At the final whistle, the victory and Championship was earned by United.
