UIW WINS BATTLE OF PKs TO ADVANCE
INCARNATE WORD 2, METRO STATE 2 (2OT), UIW 4-3 PKs
Next up for the Incarnate Word women's soccer team is a date in the Midwest Regional finals after the Cardinals on Sunday eliminated defending national champion Metro State in a game that not only went past two overtimes but even past the penalty kicks as mandated by NCAA rules.
Back in Denver, Incarnate Word got off to a quick start when in just the 10th minute of play Saraj Graef took a lead pass from freshman defender Cassidy Ballantyne (pictured) and put the ball over the head of the goalkeeper and to the back of the net. This was Ballantyne's 3rd assist of the season.

Memphis Wins Its First Women's Soccer Title/Advances to first NCAA Championship
New Mexico Native, Vedula Strnadova nailed the game winning goal, to give the Memphis Tigers the edge they needed to beat UCF and win their first C-USA Championship title in school history. The Lady Tigers have won the championship title to go along with their share of the regular season title they won last week.
In addition the Conference USA Women's Soccer Banquet, held at McKelligon Canyon in El Paso, Texas honored freshman Vendula Strnadova who took home three awards, to lead all Memphis Unversity Lady Tigers.
Strnadova was a unanimous C-USA All-Freshman Team pick. She also earned C-USA Freshman of the Year honors, as well as being the only freshman nominated to the All-C-USA first-team. Vendula finished the regular season with five goals and two assists.

Success for Lauren Ames at Gonzaga University
Ames Selected in WCC All-Freshman Team
Ames earned an All-Freshman Team accolade after posting a 0.53 goals against average in league play. She allowed three goals in six WCC matches while posting a pair of shutouts as she earned the start in all but one league match. For the season, Ames earned a 0.43 goals against average, earning her the lowest goals against average in program history.
Amongst stiff competitions, freshman goalkeeper Lauren Ames has seen much success in her first three collegiate starts. In her debut at the starting role, Ames posted a 2-0 shutout over West Coast Conference foe Saint Mary's College. Her second start came against perennial powerhouse and then-No. 12 Santa Clara University. Against the Broncos, Ames posted numerous huge saves to provide Gonzaga University with the 2-1 victory. Sunday, Ames, once again, posted multiple big saves but it did not prove to be enough as the Bulldogs fell to then-No. 11 University of San Diego 1-0 in double overtime.

Bianca Ontiveros Scores Twice in Win vs. Alabama A&M
9.23.07 AUFC Alumni Ontiveros Playing for Southern Mississippi scored her first goals of the season, when she put the ball past the A&M goalkeeper on a direct free kick in the76th minute. Ontiveros then put the Eagles up, 5-2, in the 80th minute, when she found the net again off a cross.
10.12.07 Southern Miss Gets First-Half Goal to Defeat SMU- Bianca Ontiveros, who tallied her first assist of the season, provivided a cross in which foward Sara McFadden hit an eight-foot shot off a cross from into the lower right corner of the net.

Riley Excels at Gonzaga University
Ashley Riley, former player for Albuquerque United FC '89 Girls and a midfielder on the Gonzaga University women's soccer team, has been named to the Soccer Buzz National Elite Team of the Week as announced on Tuesday. Riley was one of 11 awarded the honor by the publication after the Bulldogs' posted a 2-0-0 record en route to winning the Vanderbilt University Tournament last weekend in Nashville, Tenn.
Riley, a freshman from Taos, N.M., was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament after posting goals against Vanderbilt and University of Alabama-Birmingham, both NCAA Tournament teams in 2006. Friday, against the Commodores, she scored her first collegiate goal during the 67th minute as the Zags shutout Vandy 2-0. Riley continued her scoring ways on Sunday, posting the game-winning-goal at the 82:06 mark as Gonzaga defeated UAB 2-1 to earn the tournament title.
Riley was the only freshman to be named to the team this week, as well as one of three representatives from West Coast Conference schools.

Alexis Ball Named Second Team All-Mountain West
Ball Named to Soccerbuzz National Elite Team
New Mexico freshman Alexis Ball was named second team All-Mountain West today by the league office in its 2007 women's soccer awards presentation in Provo, Utah. Ball receives the honor after scoring six goals and collecting an assists. Ball is the first freshman to be named All-MWC since 2004.
Albuquerque-NM, New Mexico freshman Alexis Ball has been named to the Soccerbuzz.com National Elite Team of the Week today. Ball recieves the national honor after scoring two game-winners last week and has recorded four goals in the last four matches. Ball is the first Lobo this season to be honored by Soccerbuzz.com and marks only the second time in school history a player has been named to an elite team.
Ball has started every match since joining the UNM women's soccer team in August.The speedy forward has a nose for the goal and leads the lobos with four goals. The Albuquerque N.M. native was named the Mountain West Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday and was selected as the New Mexico Qwest Player of the week on www.GoLobos.com
Ball's performances last week against Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University ranks in the elite in the nation and has the Lobos off to a 6-2-2 overall start. Ball had the only two goals for the Lobos last week in two 1-0 victories. UNM is off to it's best start since the 1997 season and is currently receiving regional votes according to Soccerbuzz.com.
Ball who played at La Cueva High School and Albuquerque United Football Club, joins current Lobo goalkeeper Shannon Adragna as the only two players to be named to a Soccerbuzz.com Elite Team.
