Coach Sage Moore began coaching for Albuquerque United FC at the age of 18. He began working as the club’s goalkeeper coach, followed by team staff training, skills coaching, assistant coaching and head coaching assignments. Later he was promoted to the Assistant Director of Coaching, then later Director of Coaching for the boy’s side and lastly to the Director of Coaching for the entire club. He has been the club’s senior director for 7 years. Sage holds the “C”, “B”, and “A” coaching licenses from the United States Soccer Federation, a Preliminary Coaching Badge from the Football Association of Wales, and the Director of Coaching Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
In addition to being the Director of Coaching for AUFC, Sage has worked for the NMYSA as both an ODP/YOP coach and also as a lead instructor for “E” and “D” coaching courses. He also has worked as an apprentice coach for two NMYSA hosted “C” coaching courses. Sage has also served as a Regional staff coach at the Boys Region IV Olympic Development Program for the past 6 years and was also an age group assistant for 3 years.
During his time at AUFC he has been the head coach of 4 teams. In State Cup competition, these teams have won a combined 6 state championships, finished as finalists 2 years, and two third place finishes. His teams have also placed in quarterfinals, semifinals and one championship final at the Far West Regional Tournament.
As a player Sage played locally in the Duke City Soccer League and for Sandia High School. He then went on to red-shirt at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. After returning home Sage played professionally for the New Mexico Chiles of the United States Inter-Regional Soccer League.
Outside of soccer you can find Sage doing his best to remain on his bicycle without crashing.
