How does the AUFC Young Dragons program develop players, but keep the idea of having fun as the focus?

By combining our player and coach development philosophies (detailed below) we create a fun environment that provides the highest level of instruction. We know that when a coach is educated on exciting and informative techniques that have been repeatedly proven to enhance passion and skill, the players receive the greatest benefit. Also, at the younger ages we do NOT keep scores in matches. With this in mind our main goal is to get kids excited about the sport of soccer, provide a social arena to make new friends, and keep kids happy and healthy while teaching them the benefits of team sports.

AUFC Player Development Philosophy

At AUFC our player development philosophy strongly emphasizes individual skill development at young ages. Especially for these young players the individual skill development makes the game more fun. We also believe strong individual skill builds the confidence necessary to excel in match situations. Our players are equipped with a solid foundation of individual skill which over time transfers to team success. It is for this reason that individual player development is placed above the results of the team at all ages. We believe by emphasizing the skill of the individual then positive team results will follow.

AUFC Coach Development Philosophy

At AUFC we know our coaching staff is the direct link to the development of our players. Therefore, we intensely believe in coaching development. All of our coaches are licensed from different national coaching organizations. These organizations are the New Mexico Youth Soccer Association, National Soccer Coaches Association of America, and the United States Soccer Federation. Albuquerque United also offers coaches opportunities to expand their coaching knowledge through a club library, club coaching clinics and monthly coaches meetings.
